Mums the Word

From Pinterest

Actually, we’d like you to spread the word about our terrific POFP Chrysanthemum  Sale to family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and anyone who needs a splash of color.

Many of us buy mums to brighten fall days. Fall may seem a long way off given these hot “dog days,” but that color-filled season will be here before you know it.  Since COVID-19 caused us to cancel our spring Plant Sale, this Mum Sale is an opportunity for us to do a little fundraising for the Power of Flowers Project.

A POFP volunteer will contact you to see if you want to take advantage of this wonderful offer.  (If COVID-19 and resulting quarantine has taught us anything, it’s Be Prepared, Don’t Put Off Until Tomorrow, etc.).

The pots of mums will come from the same local grower , Dargoonian Farms, that provided the healthy, hearty annuals for last year’s Plant Sale.

The mums will come in 9” pots in a variety of 6 colors (red, yellow, gold, white, pink, and purple). For a $10 donation each, these splendid plants are a considerable savings over your local nursery.

Using the same procedure as selling Girl Scout Cookies, the volunteer who takes your order will collect the total amount due.  All orders for mums need to be received and paid by August 24.  Plants will be available for pickup on September 1 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at 365 East Street in Tewksbury, MA (at the main entrance of the Tewksbury State Hospital near the Tewksbury Library). We will be set up on the grassy area adjacent to the exit road near the
corner of Chandler Street.

Alternatively, the volunteer will contact you and deliver the mums to you.

This pandemic has made it all too clear what isolation must be like for those we serve. We particularly need to continue our mission this year. As a faithful supporter of the Power of Flowers Project in the past, you can help to make that happen.

We are so grateful for your contributions.

Wishing you a wonderful fall.
