Have We Got Plants for You!

On Monday, April 22, A Platoon of Power of Flowers Project Plant Purchasers headed over to Dargoonian Farms in Andover to seek out the best and the brightest annuals for our Plant Sale on Saturday, May 4 from 9 to 1 at the Tewksbury Senior Center, 175 Chandler Street, Tewksbury. Dargoonian Farms is a grower and supplier of flowers to Market Basket and other retailers.

The Plant Platoon, seasoned planters all, was made up of Linda C., Phyllis D., Lynne J., and Heidi W.  They were stunned at the beauty, the colors, the quality, and the

variety Dargoonian Farms had to offer.  They were also pleased with the environment in which the plants were grown: clean hoop houses; plenty of light from all directions; and plenty of fresh, clean air.  These are clean, happy, healthy plants!

After much consideration (think kids in a candy store), the Plant Platoon selected a variety of annuals to offer you at our 2019 Plant Sale:

  • 15 kinds of flowers/foliage in a rainbow of colors perfect for planters, pots, borders, window boxes
  • 3 varieties of tomato plants
  • dozens of hanging plants: there are hanging planters that are filled with spectacular combinations of several different plants to create a profusion of color and plant material and there are hanging planters that are filled with just one variety of flower such as petunias, geraniums, and New Guinea Impatiens

In addition to these wonderful annuals, at the Plant Sale we’ll have a variety of proven perennials many of which were dug from our own POFP volunteer gardens.  Whatever plants you think you’ll you need to get your garden started, we’ll have them at the Plant Sale.  We’re also raffling off some exciting garden-themed items.  And many fun and decorative garden items will be available for sale at the Whimsy Table.

National Sharpening Company of North Andover will be onsite to sharpen your gardening tools (such as shears, clipper blades, scissors and other gardening tools), for a fee while you look over our wide selection of plants.

All proceeds from the Plant Sale will be used to support the Power of Flowers Project’s work.

The 2019 Plant Sale will be held Rain or Shine and of course there will be free parking.

So grab your garden plan, your winter dull garden tools, and your lucky charm and head on over to The Power of Flowers Project Plant Sale on May 4.  Your heart will be glad you did.
