Featured Item of the Week: Yellow Flowers Print

Yellow Flowers Print 16″ x 20″ Alcohol Ink Painting

In the weeks to come, we’ll be featuring an in-depth look at some Silent Auction or raffle items that will be available during the Spread the Joy Luncheon on Wednesday, October 18.

The next featured auction item is a gorgeous 8″ x 12″ Yellow Flowers Print of an original alcohol ink painting. This beautiful piece is custom double-matted and framed to 16″ x 20″. The artist has chosen the frame and matte to complement the wonderful colors of the piece.

Painting with luminous, vibrant alcohol inks is one of the newest trends to hit the art community. Alcohol inks permanently change the color of a variety of non-porous surfaces, such as glossy paper, metal, acetate, ceramic tiles, and plastic. Mixing and manipulating various colors produce a lovely marble effect.

The artist who donated the print, which she has titled “Soft Bouquet,” is one of our very own Power of Flowers volunteers and the Executive Assistant of the project, Liz J. She says:

“I do a lot of abstract pieces but have been inspired by the blooms I see at the Power of Flowers and as a result have experimented with different types of flowers too. This was one of my first flowers and was created by manipulating the inks with compressed air and then hand painting the details.

I discovered alcohol inks in the last year and was instantly drawn to the vivid colors and the way the inks moves across non-porous surfaces. I am an artist at heart (graphic design, fine arts and photography in my past) and it feels wonderful to be creating again and even more amazing to know that my art is being enjoyed by others as well.”
