In the weeks to come, we’ll be featuring an in-depth look at some Silent Auction items that will be available during the Spread the Joy Luncheon on Wednesday, October 18.
Original Oil Painting “Baptist Street View” by Don Ouellette
This week’s item is a stunning original oil painting by Don Ouellette, a local landscape artist who works in oils and watercolors. His subjects are primarily rural New England as is this painting titled “Baptist Street View”. Framed, the painting measures approximately 7″ x 9″ and is done on Masonite, one of the artist’s favorite painting surfaces.
Don says, “My parents lived on Baptist Street in Williamstown, Vermont for 10 years; it became a favorite place for me to paint. Baptist St. is a long road with many farms and vistas. A quiet rural area that is part of the vanishing landscape that I seek to capture and share with viewers.”
We are so grateful to Don for donating one of his beautiful paintings to the Power of Flowers Silent Auction again this year. Last year we were fortunate to have another piece of his work included in our auction.
Don holds memberships in several local art Associations and Societies including: Arts League of Lowell, Lowell Art Association, Whistler House Museum of Art, Chelmsford Art Society, and Western Avenue Studios Artists Association. His paintings have received awards, including
? Best in Show Lowell Art Assoc. members juried show Nov. 2008.
? First in watercolor Lowell Festival (twice)
? First in oil Chelmsford Art Society.
Don now maintains a studio at the Western Avenue Studios, Studio 533, 5th floor, 122 Western Ave., Lowell. You can view his work by appointment or during Open Studios on the first Saturday of every month between noon and 5 PM. Visit his website at www.donouellette.com for more information.
