Handmade Pottery Handbag Vase
The last auction item that we will feature is a delightful decorative art vase in the shape of a handbag. It was made from clay and has an authentic rope handle. The piece is approximately 10 inches high and 12 inches wide. It is glazed with beige that has subtle glimmers of pale pink and blue when viewed closely.
This beautiful item was donated by the daughter-in-law of one of our board members. After years of working as a nurse, the artist returned to her love of potting. She says:
“I have done pottery off and on for 50 years but finally more seriously in the past 3 years. I have always loved working in clay and still have my very first item I made way back in 3rd grade–a piggy bank. ..I always wanted to spend more time making pottery but [my son] was too young and needed mom more than I needed clay. But he is older now and more independent so that frees up time for me! “
This is one of those auction items that needs to be seen in person to truly enjoy its beauty and craftsmanship. Please drop by the Silent Auction table to see it filled with gorgeous blooms!
