It was a sell-out crowd at the Fourth Annual Spread the Joy Luncheon on Wednesday, October 17, at the Tewksbury Country Club.
The lovely Victorian Garden Cart greeted guests at the door, resplendent with 100s of POFP signature bouquets in brightly colored cups.
Over 300 attendees joined us for what is the largest POFP fund-raising event of the year… and what a rousing success it was.
The Wine Pull with 100 bottles of wine, each with a gift card or lottery ticket sold out early. The Bonus Board, which was new to the Luncheon this year, had 44 items with values up to $100 and sold out in the first half hour!
The Silent Auction as always created a big buzz and generated some cut-throat bidding. As usual, there was a wide range of items, from a gorgeous quilt, to a wonderful platter hand-carried from Spain, to a lighted birdbath, to a Kate Spade handbag. The raffle items also caused quite a stir and the beautifully wrapped baskets added to the festive feeling.
Leslie Kirle, POFP Executive Director, made some brief opening remarks and introduced Richard Williams, Executive Director of Assisted Living, Blaire House of Tewksbury and a POFP Board Member. Since he sees it firsthand, Mr. Williams spoke of the impact of how the flowers we deliver affect residents of Blaire House.
Some raffle winners were announced as the scrumptious lunch was served. More raffle winners were announced and then some closing remarks by Leslie K. who talked about some of the things that lie ahead for the POFP. The goal of delivering the 100,000th signature bouquet is looming and several upcoming Holiday Decoration workshops were announced
After the final raffle winners and the winning bidders of the Silent Auction were announced, people started collecting their things and leaving. On the way out, everyone was invited to take a signature bouquet from the Garden Cart in the lobby.
