Numbers?..so important! 16 means one can drive! 18 means one can vote! 50 is the new 40!
And 50,000 Bouquets means 50,000 seniors in our care communities have received a dose of joy, a splash of color, a ray of hope, a brighter day!
the Power of Flowers Project – 50,000th Bouquet!
The Power of Flowers Project has just reached this milestone! In the seven short years since we began making bouquets, we have created caring connections 50,000 times! And we couldn?t be prouder of this! The flowers are donated. Dedicated volunteers pick them up, make them up and deliver them?all at no charge.
In this span of time, we?ve grown from one volunteer to 80 volunteers, one recipient site to 188 sites, one floral donor to 86 donors. We couldn?t have done it without these folks who share our mission to make a difference one flower at a time.
How fitting that this benchmark is reached on the eve of our Second Annual Spread the Joy Luncheon, our once-a-year fundraiser! On October 5th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua, NH, volunteers, donors, recipients, friends, relatives and everyone committed to this idea of rescuing flowers and re-purposing them?both for the benefit of our seniors in care communities and the environment (we save about 70% of the donated flowers and we recycle all the containers in which they come).
